About Us

Hello! We are so glad to have you in our LDC Community! A little bit about our company, mission, and how we got started:

Lawton Dance Collective is a women-led company of contemporary dance artists. We believe in the vital role of art in processing the world, broadening perspectives, disrupting patterns, and practicing empathy. Our process is research-driven and collaborative; we are interested in consistent discovery through the development of new work. At LDC, we place great value on community and creating spaces where kindness, generosity, and love are at the forefront. 

Lawton Dance Collective was founded in September 2024 by Julia Lawton. After graduating with her BFA in Dance from Adelphi University in May of 2024, Julia began putting together an evening of her choreography to present at Arts On Site in NYC. Working closely on this project with a group of eight passionate

female artists: Sarah Baghdadi, Erica Caruso, Isabella Gamba, Abby Garcia, Katie Jaffie, Casey Leyden, Emelia Sikorsky, and Alex St-Onge, it became clear that we were building something special -- a company. 

Lawton Dance Collective has been fortunate to perform at Arts On Site, The Tank, The Emelin Theatre, 14th St. Y, and The Workroom Theater Northampton. In early 2025, we had the opportunity to participate in Leimay Foundation's Incubator Program, which was instrumental in the development of our first evening-length work Like Violets, which premiered in April 2025 at The Tank. 

We are extraordinarily grateful for the love and support we have received from our growing community. We are excited to continue creating and sharing together. We invite you to learn more about our dancers and our work below.
