Join us for class, taught by Artistic Director Julia Lawton and rotating company dancers. Class will include contemporary warm up, traveling phrasework, and selections of LDC Repertory.

At LDC, our work is grounded in collaboration and creative investigation. Our creative workshops offer our community the opportunity to engage in improvisation and generative exercises in a supportive, low-pressure environment, to spark creativity and build meaningful connections.

Lawton Dance Collective offers other educational opportunities for schools and dance centers, including a contemporary dance workshop and creative commissions. All workshops and programming are catered to the needs of the student community. Contemporary Dance Workshop
Lawton Dance Collective offers a contemporary dance workshop based on modern techniques and phrasework built using movement vocabulary from our repertory. As a women-led company, we prioritize a safe, positive learning environment centered around empathy, collaboration, kindness, and community. The specific content of the workshop varies, but will include the elements listed above, as well as selections of repertory and a creative component based in improvisation/prompt-based creation. Depending on the company members teaching, we may also incorporate partner work and/or floorwork.
Creative Commission
Student groups and pre-professional companies may work with Artistic Director Julia Lawton and other LDC Company Dancers on the development of new choreographic work for their performance season.
