This show truly encompasses the heart of Lawton Dance
Collective. We are a company of young, female artists, discovering our place in the ever-changing world. In our rehearsals, we spent time talking about our individual experiences, supplemented by writing and artwork by other women – depictions of love, fear, heartache, change,
friendship, compliance, rebellion. In the process, we found solidarity in how many of life’s experiences we all share.
In this process, we were fortunate to be part of the Leimay Foundation Incubator program. This opportunity awarded us sixty hours of free rehearsal space, which was monumental in developing a large body of new work - our first full-length work as a company. We also extend our deepest gratitude to The Tank for believing in our work and producing Like Violets.
