On Sunday, March 30th, join LDC dancers for class and learn sections of brand new repertoire from Like Violets. The workshop will be led by Artistic Director Julia Lawton, with company dancers. It is an opportunity for dancers to connect and engage with the themes and vocabulary we have been exploring in the creation process for Like Violets. All are welcome!

The workshop will be held at Taylor Dance West:  307 W 38th St, 9th Floor. $20 regular admission, $15 for anyone with a ticket to our performance of Like Violets April 12-13 at The Tank.

NEW DATES ANNOUNCED SOON

Jennie and Theresa from Forager Theatre Company have partnered with Kristen Brooks Sandler (Thistle Dance) and Julia Lawton (Lawton Dance Collective) to bring the creative process to life with lectures, demonstrations, choreography mentorship, and more! Join us for an afternoon of creativity that will be sure to boost your flow and get you started on your very own dance creation. 

Choreographers will learn from dance professionals, Theresa Alexander, Kristen Brooks Sanders, and Julia Lawton as they discuss and demonstrate their creative process and how they take an idea and turn it into a fully realized dance piece. Afterwards, student choreographers will be prompted to create something of their own using what they learned from our teachers in short breakout sessions. The seminar will end with an informal showing and Q&A with the teachers.

About Take Root Seminars:

Take Root seminars are longer, more in depth classes that provide our community an opportunity to expand their knowledge in a variety of subjects from choreography to finance. These seminars are donation based events with expert teachers who will take the time to share, mentor, and engage the artists involved in new and interesting ways.
